Learning from Each Other

I’ve often heard people say “Nobody has the answers”, along with such popular lines as “There are no answers” and even more famous “All of the answers are within”. It’s a little cryptic for sure, and I think we need to go deeper into what those things mean to make sense of them.

figureitoutI think when we’re talking about answers, we gotta ask “…to what question?”

If you’re speaking in this mystical magical way of: “Nobody can tell you what’s true except what’s in your heart”, I both agree and disagree. It’s true, you have to verify that something is true in your heart, but assuming that you can’t hear truth from someone else ends up blocking out the opportunity to share a truth with someone.

Because… if someone spoke from their heart, don’t you think it would resonate strongly with your own?

But what if there’s a question that you are genuinely trying to figure out? Surely someone must have the answer, and of course if not then it’s a great opportunity for you, and perhaps someone you’re close to, to figure it out alongside you.

You could try and figure the whole thing out for yourself. Surely you have the ability to do that… but if EVERYONE who wanted to learn programming had to learn how to build a computer from scratch first on their own with no help whatsoever…. well we’d still be in the stone age wouldn’t we?

But lets go back to that first example again. Let’s say you wanted to learn how to do something, or you had a burning question about some “thing” that happens in nature that you didn’t understand. How would you go about the process of moving from Question, to Answer?

Surely, you’d start by asking someone, or perhaps google it, and start inhaling some information.

As you take in more information, you begin to connect the mental dots, and put things together in your head. The left and right brain begin to connect and synchronize in awareness, and you reach a point of “understanding”…. Usually, this leads you to yet another question, perhaps about the application of that new understanding which you just found yourself standing under.

Make sense?

. . .

Cool 🙂

So… listening is important, especially if you know that someone knows what they’re talking about… I mean, lets say you want to learn network engineering and you go to the BEST of the BEST network engineer and ask them to show you their trade secrets… You damn well better listen to them, because everything they’re about to tell you is going to be important.

There was a time when I thought I knew everything, and one of the biggest realizations was knowing that I didn’t. In addition to that, I also have learned that some people know a LOT about certain things, myself included. Some people know very little about some things, and that’s okay too 🙂

different-racesAs described in this video – these “levels” of understanding are not higher nor lower, they are simply different. Some are expanded, some are contracted, some move this way, some move that way. Some are whole, and some are fragmented. They are simply reflections of the expression of consciousness that is present in the individual.

If you want to know a lot about animation or drawing, i’m your guy. I can tell you about how animation works, how to draw, tips and tricks, secrets of the trade. I don’t consider myself the best animator in the world, and i’ve got a HUGE list of incredible animators I look up to and see their skill and ability as something to aspire to. I’m learning more and more every day.

Now, on the other hand If you’re interested in personal transformation, or cooking, or network engineering, or group trainings, or building databases, or designing giant pavilions for renaissance fairs… I would recommend you talk to Ray Kamille. He’s pretty much the smartest man i’ve ever met.

Which leads me to my next point. In the theme of learning from each other, Last night Ray published a blog for the first time in several months and completely updated his website.

If you thought my blogs were good… well, just know that almost everything I write has been inspired by him in some way, shape or form. He’s brilliant, not to mention a giant ball of compassion. Check it out if you have another few minutes to spare, and don’t forget to comment!!

But most importantly, my question for you is… What do you really know a lot about?… And what do you want to learn?

That’s all for now 🙂

  1. Hello Jordan

Since I began following spirit science about a year ago or so, I started to look deeper into myself as in what I am, how am I changing and which way am I going in my life and I’ve come to conclusion that there’s something coming in future (something drammatic judging by how I’ve been evading death on countless occasions). I was supposed to have been born dead, yet am living… or more like surviving in these lifeless, lower circles of modern society… The feeling that I have is that everything happens for some set purpouse. And this bothers me as I feel that my time is running out… My question to you is following.. Maybe you could with help of patch man look into my inner core and see what is it preparing itself for? I’d do it myself, but I can’t reach that far no matter how hard I try, something always stops me…

Hope this makes any sence to you and hope you will have some advice for me.

    Thank you my mentor

  2. Hey Jordan!

I agree 🙂 talking to people is important, not just for a specific fact they could offer, but simply for the sake of discussion too. When a group of people tries to go in depth about a subject, more questions are brought up, and new points and ideas arise – especially if one of the people has more experience concerning the topic.

    as Buddha said:

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”

I guess one should always weigh what one hears carefully to see if it resonates with him, instead of just blindly trusting that more experienced person, right? People have been putting their faiths in priests and such, as those claimed to know more, to be the “network engineers”, and what did that lead to? Witch burning, crusades…. People throughout history have this tendency to want to stop thinking. But I digress.

Sharing concepts and ideas is great – That is what meant to say before I got carried away.
    Keep up the good work
(though I appreciate your blog, i wish you’d make another video soon!)
    Namaste 🙂

  3. [To compliment this post I’ll share the following]:

You touched on the subject of expertise (sometimes it can be just learning from another’s mistakes), and that reminded me of the question, “Who do you listen to?” I suppose ultimately you could answer with “yourself” but that might not be the most helpful. As you suggested, listening to (or reading about/from) others who have what you want (or want to know) can be.

Another factor is how teachable you are, in other words your willingness to listen and accept change (or reevaluate). How teachable you are changes from moment to moment. For example, at the time of this writing, I’m not very teachable or receptive to ideas because I’m more excited to now share and play off of the ideas in your post (shortly after I will again be open to receiving a response and exploring how it resonates). 🙂

I liken it to what you and Ray presented in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzfjoU9S5VQ

So to answer your question: I know a lot about how to learn, and I want to learn more about audio for interactive mediums (a.k.a. games) 😉

  4. Hi Jordan,

I’ve been wanting to comment on one of your posts for quite some time now but was waiting for the right time, which won’t ever come so I’m just going to do it now.

First I’d like to say I appreciate all your work that I have read or watched. It has brought me understandings that I don’t think you intended. What I mean by that is, while watching your spirit science videos, as much as I agree with parts of your message, I believe that a lot of what you talk about is completely irrelevant to the progression of our species. But that’s okay, because that is what is REQUIRED for the progression of our species. Wait what? Did I just contradict myself? No, let me explain further…

*off topic for a second, but will bring it back*

Like most spiritual teachers, you talk about love and ego. How ego is destroying the world, and love is the way to bring it back together again. The way I see it, love and ego are the two energies that create life, without either one life would not exist. It’s the dualistic reality, the male and female energy you talk about. Essentially, love is the “positive” energy, it’s what brings us together, makes us aware that we are all one consciousness. Ego is the “negative” energy, it’s what makes us believe that we are separate from one another. You can extend this further into the universe, gravity is pulling everything together, while dark energy is pushing everything apart. Two forces required for the universe to exist. Right now our universe is expanding, at an increasing rate. So it if reflected in our reality, ego the more dominate energy right now. Eventually the universe will start coming back together again, and the opposite will be true.

People believe that ego is a bad thing, that we want to eliminate our ego, and live a life of love. But the problem I have with that is, if we eliminate our ego, we no longer can recognise that we are separate from each other. We will no longer exist in this physical form, and I kinda like it here. Light cannot exist without darkness. I don’t believe we have to eliminate our ego, but more so have a healthy respect for it. Knowing that we are separate from one another, but also that we are connected at the same time. I’ve never heard anyone talk about ego like this and I’m interested to know your thoughts on it.

Ok so now back on topic here. I mentioned that I believe a lot of the stuff you talk about is irrelevant to the progression of our species. That is my personal belief, that is true for me but may not be true for someone else. We live in dualistic reality, for something to be true, it also has to not be true. If you didn’t post those videos saying those things that I don’t agree with, I wouldn’t be here writing this comment. Everything that has happened and will happen is no mistake. There is nothing going on in this world right now that should not be going on. That’s not to say we should keep doing what we are doing, just that the universe is smart, it doesn’t make mistakes, we just might not see the reason for it yet.

Holy sh*t this is longer than I wanted…hope you didn’t fall asleep!

I’m much better at getting my understanding across from I’m actually talking to someone, I struggle to write down my thoughts in an easy to understand way, and for that reason my message might be received differently than it was intended. I guess what I am really trying to say, in as short as possible…

We all have our own individual path, certain people are meant to learn certain things at certain times in order for everyone to learn what they need by the time they need it.

I really liked that you said

“There was a time when I thought I knew everything, and one of the biggest realizations was knowing that I didn’t.”

Because I was at that point too, and I think the hardest thing for me to accept was that I didn’t. And now my only goal in life is to continue learning, and growing, by conversing with people. I don’t have to agree with what they say in order to get my own understanding from it. All I have to do is accept and respect their opinion is important for their life, and take what I need for mine.

You are a great man on a great journey, and I hope you never feel like you have reached the end.

    Love and Peace, Brother.

    1. Pete,

If by chance you see this reply, i’d love to have a conversation with you about this post. There is something very specific about your message i’m intrigued with.

Message me on facebook should you find the time and or the interest.

      Much love,

  5. Jordan, I have really enjoyed the Spirit Science videos and am so impressed at the way they communicate such a lot of information in a most accessible way. Impressed, too, with the dedication that produced them.

For finding your own unique destiny and knowing what it is you must do in this life, I recommend the practice of the Steps to Knowledge. It does take time–years, perhaps–but the text is free: http://stepstoknowledge.com/

  6. Ah, I found the section blog I was seeking 😛
Thanks for offering the platform for these types of relationships to meet.
I want to help others explore: basic natal chart astrology/self-exploration, an online committed mentorship relationship where we keep each other on task and help brainstorm solutions to the hurdles we build for ourselves
I want to be guided in exploring: permaculture (growing & sharing the cycle of food production), physical fitness and sticking to certain foods, transforming gripping negative emotions into positive ones or into creative works of art
Feel free to make contact. 🙂

  7. I Just wanted to share this video where the great master Bobby McFerrin demonstrates the power of the pentatonic scale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=0gjreHt0tRI Enjoy!

To respond to the initial answer and not be posting only out of context I’m Dreaming about becoming a true musician… Actually, I want to know about all the languages or communication systems I have the occasion to learn about. I’m grateful toward Life and hoping to meet great mentors on my way…then, being able to share my knowledge, participating in a big Project.

    Let’s staying Conscious and Creatives.

  8. Hey :3 I really wish I could meet a community where people can share their experience and also their knowledge. I feel pretty lonely and even though I will probably meet new people in the future, I’m not really sure if they will share this kind of subject (on spirituality) and I think it will be hard for me to look for people like that..

If it’s possible I can get help from people abroad or even you (but I don’t think you will be that free ^^”). It will be nice if I can have contact with other people abroad.

Love your videos and love what you are doing!
    Keep it up 🙂
