What does “Within” mean?

I like the phrase “Truth Comes from Within”, I think it speaks a profound truth that you have the ability to recognize Truth within your Heart. That’s that point of infinity, between you and between everyone else’s infinity. That space, the phi ratio between your infinite within and your infinite with-out… well, that’s a whole ‘nother blog on its own.

But let’s think about this a little bit deeper too. Don’t mind the gamer-talk, It is relevant, just go with it… you know you want to 🙂

I recently beat Zelda: Skyward Sword and moved on to my next game, Final Fantasy XIII. I don’t know if you remember this old blog where I expressed my enthusiasm for our new friend Marie moving in, who brought with her a bajillion and a half Xbox games… Well, i’m slowly beginning my plow through them to get caught up on what I’ve been reading have been some of the most remarkable and popular games of the past 5 years.

On the back of the box art for Final Fantasy XIII, it says this…

“The fight within begins”

withinNow, this strikes me as odd because as i’ve been playing the game, i’m not seeing a large amount of internal dialogue and dilemma, and yet there is a large amount of drama between the characters in the game and all of their personal agreements, disagreements, ideas, and what have you.

But upon recognizing perhaps what this means is not that each character has to have their own internal struggle (which of course they do), but they also altogether have a struggle between what they are trying to accomplish as a team.

Perhaps “within” doesn’t necessarily have to mean ONLY inside yourself, but it is an invitation to see that you exist “Within” a family, “within” a society, “Within a network of people online”. The truth exists “within” any particular group, and sometimes it takes some effort and energy to recognize it for what it is.

See, I’ve read all kinds of new-age stuff that “You have to find out what’s right for you personally”, I get that, I really do. For a long time I had my personal truths and I held onto them because I didn’t have anything else.

sharedWhat happens though, is that as you grow and begin to open up to new ideas, expanding your awareness beyond what was right in front of your nose, You began to realize that what was true for you personally is not necessarily true for everyone.

In fact, if you became aware that that “personal truth” is not in service to the greater good of mankind, and was actually taking away from others so that you can have your own personal thing… It ceased to be a truth, and your actions change.

I think that if we can become aware of each other on a grand accord, our “Personal Truths” will become our “Collective Truths”. There will be no need for “Personal Truths” anymore, because there will be no need for secrets with each other. Everyone can just be, without the fear of anyone using any information against each other….because there’s no need for it. Everyone simply understands, and can do whatever they really want to.

It’s a dream… yeah… But i’ve seen dreams come true before… and i’ll see to it that this one does too, in this lifetime, or the next.

Loved and Lost…

Is it really better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all?

is-it-better-to-have-loved-and-lost-a-poem-by-pookyFor when that moment comes when everything that was so real just a moment ago is ripped away from your heart and you are left feeling cold and alone… in that moment… You know what it means to suffer. You know what it means to hurt.

In that moment is where you feel the depth of where emotions can take you. The feeling of wanting to throw a chair through a window, or tear down a telephone pole and smash it against things. That feeling of wanting to crawl in bed and never come out, because an important part of your world was connected to the one that you loved, and now that they are not there… an empty space remains.

And the forest burns.

Sometimes, the forest has been dead for a very long time… and it’s burning simply the required action in beginning anew.

002_2In other times, the forest is fresh and lush… and what must have happened for such a piece of majesty and beauty to have befallen such pain and suffering, that it must burn in its entirety…for what reason?

In that moment, as the forest burns, or as you stand at the edge of the field of empty, gray ash… in that moment you ask the question… did it really have to be this way?

Could it have gone differently?

Is there anything we can do that can bring it back to the way it was?

Is it really better to have loved and lost… than to have never loved at all?

It is only when the new seedlings begin to sprout up that you begin to relax. That empty feeling begins to vanish in place of a new-found love for what now emerges as the next thing. The next love, the one that rises from the ashes NEWSEEDSof what lay before. New understandings, new friendships, new abilities…

Maybe part of the forest remains, and simply needs continued nurturing to grow. In taking up that task that phrase begins to make sense… It really is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all… The love was important.

Losing it was just as important, there is something more to learn. Something more to see. Did it have to be that way? Maybe not, but since it did, lets take what we learned from it, and turn it into something new.

That’s how we learn. That’s how we grow.

I love you,

Now onto the next thing.

To my younger selves…

I’ve been thinking… If I could go back in time and communicate with my younger selves, i’d have a lot to say… And for that matter, I believe you can actually do that in a way… not in a literal physical going back in time (at least not yet), but revisiting all of the events in your memories and recognizing a greater truth about what happened, and growing from it? Definitely!

So anyways, I was thinking about who I was when I was younger, in contrast to who I Am now, there’s a pretty remarkable difference, at least it feels that way to me. I wasn’t spiritual, I was rather mad at everything, and I almost always had my head in a computer or a video game.

I didn’t have many friends, and I pushed away on getting close to anyone pretty much all the time… If I was to be able to re-live high school with the level of awareness I have right now… Well I gotta say, it would be interesting for sure. I’m not even sure if I would be able to go. It’s all so boxy and yichk… Continue reading

Creating a Resonance!

dream_catcher_burst - andrew jones

Painting by Andrew Jones!

Today, I’d like to create a resonance with you 🙂 It seems like the perfect way to end a year <3

I’ve been doing this blog for about a month now… which means that’s 31 blogs in a row, 31 days straight i’ve been writing nonsense… and sometimes real sense too I hope, in an experiment about communication, expression, meaning, language, all of that stuff.

It’s been teaching me how to write, especially in seeing and responding to the comments.

Statistics are very interesting. I have been paying attention to the google analytics on my blog for the past few days, in order to gain a better understanding of who reads my blog. Pretty much all I can see is “what blogs did well, what blogs didn’t do well, what blogs got a lot of comments, which ones didn’t”.

Interestingly enough, the Hobbit blog got a tremendous amount of pageviews, 2900!.. and yet only 4 comments. In fact, 97% of people didn’t stay on the page for more than 10 seconds!

It seems the ones that REALLY get people talking are blogs like “How to Change the World”, that one has a whopping 100 comments! And not just whatever comments either, you guys were seriously engaged with that writing!

Isn’t that wildly interesting? I think so! Continue reading

Growing from Disagreements

I’ve been thinking a lot about disagreements… what is the energy behind a disagreement? Or is there something about it that fuels growth, transformation… even more power?

And for that matter, what does growth mean? What does more power mean? Power as in electricity? Power as in “That was a powerfully moving movie”… In this case, maybe a bit of both.

disagreementFor that matter, what even is a disagreement? The modern definition is; a lack of consensus or approval.

As this year is wrapping up, looking back i’ve seen many different shared experiences i’ve had with different people. In fact, those shared experiences, both good and bad, are what make up a large part of this year. Other events sometimes look like riding planes, trains, playing video games… and yet even those are shared experiences with people. Continue reading

Learning from Each Other 2

On the last “Learning from Each Other” blog, one of the first comments I got on Facebook was something akin to:  “I don’t feel like this was about rapid knowledge gain. You just described finding a mentor.”

And with that, I decided I was going to write a part 2, it was clear to me I needed to (or at least wanted to) expand on this topic a little further.

In the previous blog, I talked about finding someone who knows how to do what you want to do, and asking them for help or following them around so that you can learn from them. It’s a natural part of learning, growing from the information passed down by those who came before you.

There are 2 topics I’d like to explore deeper into today. What does “Power-leveling” mean, and creating a friendship where both you and your friend are both the teachers, and the students. As in, the energy doesn’t just flow in one direction. Lets start with this one.

Learning from Each Other

I’ve often heard people say “Nobody has the answers”, along with such popular lines as “There are no answers” and even more famous “All of the answers are within”. It’s a little cryptic for sure, and I think we need to go deeper into what those things mean to make sense of them.

figureitoutI think when we’re talking about answers, we gotta ask “…to what question?”

If you’re speaking in this mystical magical way of: “Nobody can tell you what’s true except what’s in your heart”, I both agree and disagree. It’s true, you have to verify that something is true in your heart, but assuming that you can’t hear truth from someone else ends up blocking out the opportunity to share a truth with someone.

Because… if someone spoke from their heart, don’t you think it would resonate strongly with your own?

But what if there’s a question that you are genuinely trying to figure out? Surely someone must have the answer, and of course if not then it’s a great opportunity for you, and perhaps someone you’re close to, to figure it out alongside you. Continue reading

Morally Right

SpiritKingdomipadI received a comment recently from a guy with the username Zach Jordan. I don’t know if that’s his real name, it probably is, but either way he has AWESOME comments! He also has a blog, which you can check out here.

Either way, on the post “How to Change the World” he commented by pointing out some important things and bringing attention and questions to some of the things that i’ve said, and I wanted to share it and open up a discussion about it.  Below is his comment, among many…. all of which are very insightful. 🙂

Solving Problems

sbPuzzledProblem Solving is probably one of the biggest challenges we face today as a species, both individually, and working with groups.

I think one of the reasons why is because in the typical system (as imposed by our democratic way of doing things) we work by a “Tell me what to do” model, where one person is the boss and the other person is the employee. I wrote about it briefly in this blog from last week.

The problem is that when we do it this way, we eliminate free thought to take place,

I saw some comments or some vibe in the first few weeks of this blog  emerging from the depths of my mind which felt sort of like… “Hey, this message is different than before. You used to say think for yourself, and now you’re saying Truth is Truth”. because we turn off our own input of awareness in favor of someone else’s.

And the truth is, i’m saying both, and i’d like to take some time to explore what those things mean. Continue reading

“We are One”はなんですか

The verbalization of this title is “We are One” Wa Nan Desuka, which translates to “What does We Are One mean?” or “What is We Are One?”

If you’re new to this blog, often in many posts I sign it:

We Are One,
*my, or someones name here*

I feel like it’s a good way to bring everything around full circle, that You are reading something that You wrote.

higherself2

Do you remember the blog post called “The Author and the Character”, I described how there is You, the Author of the story, and then there is you, the character.

Note the differences is the way of writing them. You with a capital, like “God”, and you with a lowercase… like “god”.

A subtle difference for sure, and yet a great and important difference between the two, the awarenes
s of which allows for a much more intimate understanding and perception of what is… the lack of awareness of which allows for someone to feel like they are being more “spiritual” than someone else… which is sometimes the case too. Continue reading
